Bio

It’s an amazing gift to be part of a child’s journey from birth through childhood, adolescence, and into young adulthood. I love working with children and families at every age and developmental stage. My approach to medicine is rooted in listening and partnering with families to solve problems as they raise healthy, resilient, independent young adults. With more than 20 years of experience in pediatrics, I’ve had the privilege of caring for children through every stage of growing up, and I bring that experience to every visit.

I grew up in a small rural community in Wisconsin. I’ve always loved being outside and having adventures. My summers were spent biking around town with friends in the days before cell phones, and we knew it was time to head home only when the street lights came on. Like most teenagers, I started college without a clear sense of direction. I liked science, math, and people, and somewhere in the middle of college, I decided medicine was the path for me. I also swam on my college swim team, and that experience taught me the value of a group of people working hard together toward a common goal.

I attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin, and it was during my pediatric rotation that I found my calling.

My husband and I moved to Oregon for my pediatric residency. We both love the outdoors and adventure, and we fell in love with the state immediately. I now have two young adult children who share that same love of the outdoors. I swim, run, bike, kitesurf, and mountain bike, and have competed in triathlons in the past. These days, I train for life. I’m also currently trying to learn to wingfoil to keep up with my kids. I consider myself a proud Oregonian, though I still cheer for the Packers.

I have a shared practice with Dr. Sarah Tycast, who also loves working with families and kids of all ages, especially navigating the complexities of the teenage years. Patients have a primary doctor but have the benefit of knowing and being known by both of us. We both believe in working closely with families to provide the best care for every situation, and I never worry about my patients when Sarah is with them.

I welcome families at every stage, including the exciting and sometimes overwhelming newborn period. I enjoy supporting new parents through breastfeeding and always welcome questions and conversations about vaccines. I also offer telehealth visits for situations where coming into the office isn’t necessary.
