Children need about 14 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period at this age. Most will give up their morning nap and move to a longer afternoon nap, as they do this you may need to adjust to an earlier bedtime. Foods should include balanced and healthy choices. To avoid a choking risk you will want to avoid the following foods: Raw Carrots, Nuts, Hard Candy, Popcorn and Whole Grapes. Enjoy your child as they walk independently (often holding objects in their hands), begin scribbling, gesture or point to what they want and turn pages in a book.

Most 15 month olds will:

  • Wave “bye-bye”
  • Stoop to pick something up
  • Increase their vocabulary to three or more words
  • Put blocks into a container
  • Imitate sounds and facial expressions
  • Play alone with toys
