Continue to offer a well-balanced diet. Encourage eating breakfast every day. Encourage twice daily teeth brushing. Get to know your child’s teacher(s), volunteer your services at school or in your child’s extracurricular activities. Practice bicycle, skating, scooter and skateboard safety – WEAR A HELMET. Answer questions about sex education honestly. Let your child know that they can come to you with questions. Establish fair, understandable rules about chores, TV time, video games, outside activities, homework and bedtime.

By Eight Years of Age your child can or soon will:

  • Start to care for his/her own room
  • Read for pleasure
  • Have a sense of humor
  • Be concerned about rules and good versus bad
