Our History
One of the oldest continuously operating pediatric practices in the Pacific Northwest, and still growing.
The Children’s Clinic was founded in 1911 by Dr. Joseph Bilderback, the first pediatrician in the Pacific Northwest and the physician who established the Pediatric Department at OHSU. From a single office in downtown Portland, he built a practice that has served generations: a practice rooted in the belief that every child in this community deserves exceptional care.
More than 110 years later, that belief still drives everything we do.
What started as one clinic in one city has grown into three locations serving the greater Portland metropolitan area: SW Portland, Tualatin, and Newberg. Our patients have changed. Medicine has changed. Our community has grown. But our commitment to excellent care, and to the long-standing relationships we build with patients and families, has never wavered.

On-Site Lab & X-Ray
We offer in-house lab and x-ray services at all three locations, so your child gets answers faster without an extra trip to another facility.
Your Child's Complete Record, Always Accessible
Our shared electronic health record means that whether your child sees their regular provider or one of our extended-hours physicians, their full health history is always available to the care team. Consistent care, regardless of who's in the room.

From our front desk staff to our medical assistants, nurses, and care coordinators, every person on our team is here because they believe in what we're doing.
